Joseph T. Sanders founded the family ham business back in 1925, delivering his homemade products in a Model T Ford.

The hams were well received and quickly gained in popularity and increased distribution. With the increase in demand for the old fashioned hams came the need for more processing area, and many expansion programs throughout the years, with modern equipment and renewed enthusiasm for more Butterball Hams.  

We know that there is only one time-tested way of making a truly authentic old-fashioned Butterball Ham, and that method has not been compromised over the years. Our hams are still made that way today for your eating pleasure. Sons and grandsons, and now great-grandsons, have joined the business in keeping the Sanders Butterball Ham a proud family business tradition for over 80 years.

You can be assured when you order a smoked Sanders product that it is the highest quality and has been inspected throughout the production process. Our USDA inspector has an office in our Custer facility and inspects production on an hourly basis.

Shipping & Returns

All of the products we sell online are smoked or pickled and will be packaged safely in styrofoam lined boxes with ice packs to keep the products cold if it is required.

If multiple items of a single product are ordered, actual shipping charges may be lower than originally quoted and we may issue a credit to your paypal account. And if you would like an order overnighted and are willing to pay the extra fees call us and we will take your order over the phone. Feel free to email us or call us with questions. We ship orders on Mondays and Tuesdays some Wednesday orders will ship depending on the ship to address, to make sure the items do not sit in a warehouse over a weekend. So plan ahead when ordering. Paying by eCheck? We will hold shipment until the money is transferred from your Paypal account to ours, to insure quick shipment it is best to use a Paypal account or a credit card.
